The OCASI submission for Ontario Pre-Budget Consultations 2013 is focused on challenges in the year ahead, facing immigrants and refugees, and the immigrant and refugee-serving sector in Ontario.
In July of 2012, OCASI was invited by the Committe for the Rights of the Child, an independent body which monitors the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), to submit a shadow report on the state of children's rights in Canada. This report was presented in Geneva, Switzerland in the Fall of 2012.
OCASI submitted the following letter in response to the posting of proposed regulatory changes regarding the reporting requirements for "designated foreign nationals" as required by the recent passing of Bill C-31 into legislation. The posting on the Gazette can be found here.
The Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) was invited to participate in hearings on Bill C-31 held by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration.
