OCASI - Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants submitted a brief to the Ministry of the Status of Women consultation on Women's Economic Empowerment. The brief was a joint submission by OCASI and Colour of Poverty - Colour of Change (COP-COC)
OCASI together with Colour of Poverty - Colour of Change submitted a written brief to the House of Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women, for its study on The Economic Security of Women in Canada.
The Bill was introduced in the Legislature on March 29, 2017 by Michael Coteau, Minister Responsible for Anti-Racism. If passed, legislation would embed the Ontario Anti-Racism Directorate in law, creating a framework for continued work to promote equity for racialized groups across the province. The Bill would enable the government to mandate race data collection and an anti-racism impact assessment framework, to apply an anti-racism perspective to public sector policies and programs.
OCASI Executive Director Debbie Douglas appeared as a witness before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration to present on Bill S-7, Barbaric Cultural Practices Act on May 6, 2015. The Bill proposes new measures with respect to forced marriage and polygamy, including changes to immigration law.

She made the following observations in her presentation:
OCASI was invited by the Task Force reviewing the Regulated Health Professions Act (1991) to participate in consultations on the Prevention of the Sexual Abuse of Patients.
The Task Force was appointed by Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care (Ontario), to begin its review in January 2015. Consultations began in late February 2015.
The OCASI presentation to the Task Force focused on the experience of immigrant and refugee women, and women without immigration status, and included the included the following recommendations:
The OCASI submission for Ontario Pre-Budget Consultations 2013 is focused on challenges in the year ahead, facing immigrants and refugees, and the immigrant and refugee-serving sector in Ontario.
In July of 2012, OCASI was invited by the Committe for the Rights of the Child, an independent body which monitors the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), to submit a shadow report on the state of children's rights in Canada. This report was presented in Geneva, Switzerland in the Fall of 2012.
OCASI submitted the following letter in response to the posting of proposed regulatory changes regarding the reporting requirements for "designated foreign nationals" as required by the recent passing of Bill C-31 into legislation. The posting on the Gazette can be found here.
