OCASI provided a written submission to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance for its pre-budget consultations.
The OCASI submission called for a revamp of the immigration and refugee system to make the systems fair and more accessible. OCASI also made recommendations to advance racial equity and eliminate racial discrimination.

January 2019/ Toronto - Colour of Poverty - Colour of Change (COP-COC) has submitted a Proposed Framework for a New Anti-Racism Strategy for Canada to the Canadian government's consultations on a new national anti-racism strategy.
The federal government has proposed an Open Work Permit program for migrant workers facing abuse or the risk of abuse, as well as for their families in Canada. The proposal was published in the Canada Gazette on December 15, 2018 as a notice to amend Immigration and Refugee Protection Act Regulations. Click here for the Gazette Notice.
August 15, 2019 - OCASI made the following submission to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in response to call for feedback on the three-year immigration levels plan released by the government in November 2017.
OCASI - Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, Colour of Poverty - Colour of Change (COP-COC), Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic and South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario call for the inclusion of the health sector in the Ontario government's data collection regulations under the Anti-Racism Act (2017).
September 2017 - OCASI participated in a joint submission to the United Nations Human Rights Council for its Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of human rights in Canada.
Canada’s third UPR will take place in April/May 2018 during the 30th session of the UPR Working Group.
