[August 2012 In the Field] Metropolis Moves from CIC to Carleton University

After 16 years at Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Secretariat for the Metropolis Project is announcing that it has moved to new premises at Carleton University in Ottawa. This move coincides with the end of the funding of the Metropolis Centres of Excellence in Canada and the completion of this phase of the Canadian Metropolis Project.

This is usually the time of year when the pace of the work of organizations slows down as leadership and practitioners take time to renew their energies and to regroup. It is the time when the reality of life-work balance seems not too out of reach and when dreams of lazy hours on patios, lake beaches or backyards with family and friends often become reality. For many in our sector, this is not happening this year.

[July 2012 In the Field] MCI Call for Proposals

The Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI) will be releasing an open Call for Proposals (CFP) in early July 2012 for delivery of the Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP) across Ontario beginning April 2013.

The goal of the program is to support the successful settlement and integration of newcomers to Ontario. The program is delivered by a province-wide network of non-profit agencies that assist newcomers in settling and integrating into communities across Ontario.

[July 2012 In the Field] CIC Call for Proposals

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is expected to issue a national Call for Proposals (CFP) by the first week in August, and an announcement is expected within the next few weeks. Applications are to be submitted online.


OCASI has agreed to facilitate the development of a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document by sharing questions with CIC that member agencies may have about the CFP.
