The Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) welcomes the proposal to encourage employers to hire immigrants by offering a tax credit. This is an investment in new Canadians that will benefit all Ontarians, since improving their integration in the labour market will serve to strengthen Ontario's economy. Let us look at why this is important and necessary.
The Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) joins Canadians in mourning the passing of Jack Layton, leader of the Official Opposition and the federal New Democratic Party of Canada.
We honour his courage in battling cancer, his public service to Canada, and his commitment to his values. We appreciate his hard work on issues of concern to immigrants and refugees, over the length of his political career in municipal and later federal politics. Above all, we remember his optimism and joy for life.
