We are excited to share that OCASI's Positive Spaces Initiative (PSI) LGBTQ program was identified as a “best practice” by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Not only is OCASI on the list but many Ontario programs including two from our member agencies. Way to go Ontario!
The Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI) will be releasing an open Call for Proposals (CFP) in early July 2012 for delivery of the Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP) across Ontario beginning April 2013.
The goal of the program is to support the successful settlement and integration of newcomers to Ontario. The program is delivered by a province-wide network of non-profit agencies that assist newcomers in settling and integrating into communities across Ontario.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is expected to issue a national Call for Proposals (CFP) by the first week in August, and an announcement is expected within the next few weeks. Applications are to be submitted online.
OCASI has agreed to facilitate the development of a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document by sharing questions with CIC that member agencies may have about the CFP.
The Mennonite New Life Centre is a community based settlement agency, offering a broad range of programs and services for newcomers to Canada. It is a place of welcome, friendship and community, where newcomers and neighbours gather to support each other, learn from each other, and take action together for a more just and compassionate society.
