It seems like we can’t catch a breath, before another unexpected announcement of a legislative, by-law or policy change is announced by one or another level of government. All negative. All curbing individual and group rights. All must and will be challenged- in calls to elected politicians, in the streets and in the courts.

A coalition of civil society groups from across Canada has released an open letter to Premier Carney and Ministers Anandasangree and Diab, to express deep concern that Bill C-2, The Strong Borders Act will put refugee claimants, immigrants and migrants at risk.

This course aims to support those working in the immigrant and refugee-serving sector to deepen their understanding of anti-Indigenous racism and to explore promising practices to address it within their work. Registration deadline is June 16, 2025.

ONN’s annual survey is conducted to better understand how nonprofits in Ontario are faring. It identifies and shares the state of the sector in a given moment of time, and provides organizations, nonprofit workers, volunteers, donors, government, and other groups with access to high-quality data, disaggregated by key demographic profiles.

Book Launch: Social Resilience and Internal Migration in the Canadian City
The book draws attention to disparities in outcomes for migrants and proposes strategies to enhance their participation in cities of all sizes. Focused on Ontario and Quebec, chapters pinpoint factors that affect the settlement and integration of immigrants, as well as growing numbers of international students, foreign workers, and refugee claimants. Wellesley Institute reviews research on barriers and facilitators to primary care for equity-deserving populations in Ontario to better understand how to improve access. This policy brief provides initial recommendations to advance primary care attachment as the province begins to roll out its new team-based care model across the province.

The longest-standing and only Canadian-based refugee meeting with global perspectives to promote the best outcomes in refugee populations through research, education and advocacy. Topics include mental health, tuberculosis, interpretation, racism, detention, climate change, settlement and more. Discuss barriers, solutions, best practices while networking with peers and experts in the field.
Anti-Black racism has deeply affected the quality of care for Black populations in Canada, particularly in primary care. The research, conducted by Wellesley Institute in partnership with Black Health Alliance, identifies promising strategies to combat anti-Black racism in primary care and promote equitable healthcare for Black populations.
This national initiative by Rideau Hall Foundation has opened the Spring 2025 Open Call for charities and nonprofits working directly with underserved youth. Apply before June 20, 2025, 12:00 p.m. ET for the general stream, or targeted stream for projects specifically designed to address the needs of newcomers to Canada and refugees. Small and medium-sized organizations are prioritized.
Ontario Trillium Foundation - Apply to be an Organizational Mentor
Organizational Mentors provide administrative support, project mentoring and financial accountability to grassroots groups funded through the Youth Innovations and Family Innovations streams.
