Your Silence Will Not Protect You, is the title of one of Audre Lorde’s books of poetry and prose. When I was a young anti-racist feminist, and throughout my many years in the world of activism and advocacy, I’ve often reminded myself of these words when I became hesitant or at times afraid of the consequences for myself, my organization, my group or community, by speaking out about some injustice or other.

The Redwood Mobile Healing Centre, housed in a custom-outfitted RV, brings anti-gender-based violence counselling and prevention, basic health care and other complementary services to survivors in neighbourhoods throughout Toronto and the GTA. The goal of the Mobile Healing Centre is to meet service users in their neighbourhood and make immediate healing services more accessible.

Canada Retraining and Opportunities Initiative supports workforce planning and skills training in communities significantly impacted by a mass layoff. It provides funding for community-based projects that help workers develop skills to transition to new jobs. Apply before March 31, 2025. Ontario Trillium Foundation Youth Innovations Test Grant

This grant supports grassroots, youth-led, and youth-adult partnership projects that enhance the social and economic well-being of young people. It funds initiatives exploring new ideas, researching key issues, and fostering collective problem-solving, with priority given to projects serving Indigenous and Black youth facing systemic barriers.

Measuring discrimination in rental housing across Canada

The Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR) has released results from the first ever national study to measure the extent of discrimination experienced by marginalized renters when they are searching to secure a rental home, and while living in one. Conducted by CCHR in partnership with Dr. Gordon Hodson from Brock University.
