Public Consultation on Integrated Occupational Health and Safety Strategy

AddToAny

The Ministry of Labour is consulting with stakeholders and the public on developing the first-ever integrated occupational health and safety strategy for Ontario. The strategy will establish a clear vision, goals and priorities that will guide the work of the ministry and its partners in the years ahead.

In 2010, the Expert Advisory Panel on Occupational Health and Safety delivered a ground breaking report calling for significant changes to our health and safety system. A priority recommendation of the Panel was the development of a strategy that would result in improved health and safety programs and services in Ontario.

In December 2012, the Ministry of Labour announced the establishment of the first ever Vulnerable Worker Task Group as a way for the Ministry to consult with vulnerable workers and employers.  The Ministry is seeking to better understand, respond and support the occupational health and safety needs of vulnerable workers and their employers.

A discussion paper and a shorter version, which will be available in many languages, have been developed to support these consultations. These documents are intended to give you an opportunity to contribute to the strategy.  Your feedback is important- it will influence the health and safety strategy for Ontario.

Stay tuned, we will let you know when more information is available in the near future.
