OCASI – Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants invites concurrent session proposals for our 2019 Professional Development Conference. OCASI is the umbrella organization for immigrant and refugee-serving agencies in Ontario. Read more about OCASI.
The target audience is frontline workers (majority) and program coordinators and managers from OCASI member agencies and other immigrant serving organizations in Ontario.
Conference sessions are intended to strengthen skills and knowledge of participants to enhance capacity and quality of programs and services to immigrants, refugees and people with precarious immigration status (example: migrant workers, refugee claimants, international students, people without immigration status).
Bilingualism
Proposals may be submitted for unilingual (English OR French) and bilingual (English AND French) sessions. Certain workshops may be selected for simultaneous interpretation.
Topics
We invite proposals that address one or more of the themes below. We also welcome proposals on themes that may be of interest to sector workers and that are not included here.
All proposals must use an anti-racism, anti-oppression framework. See OCASI Anti-racism and anti-oppression policy and Accessibility policy.

Application
Who can apply: Trainers, subject matter experts and experienced practitioners from OCASI member agencies, other community organizations, public institutions, government, academia and private sector (example: individual consultants).
Deadline: Wednesday, July 31 2019 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time
Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
Session format: Sessions are concurrent. All sessions are 1.5 hours. Some may be doubled to allow a 3 hour session.
Sessions must be interactive or include interactive components. Sessions can use a training format, lecture style, panel presentations or any other adult learning format.
Selection:
- Relevance
- Practical applicability of knowledge, strategies, and tools
- Experience and expertise of facilitator(s)
Honoraria
Honorarium may be provided as follows: $200 honorarium for 1.5 hour session; $350 honorarium for 3 hour session.
No honoraria will be provided to government, public institutions or academic institutions.
