Working While Black - The Phenomenon of Walking Through The Door
TAIBU Community Health Centre’s first documentary shares real and unfiltered testimonies of Black Canadian professionals and scholars who intimately describe the subtlety and scars of systemic racism. It was developed to raise awareness of the challenges experienced in working while black, and as an engagement and training tool to bring about change in the workplace.

Apply For OCASI Professional Development and Training Fund (PET)
The PET Fund is Available for In-House Group Training. Organizations funded by Immigrant Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are eligible to apply for funds up to $3000 to cover the facilitator’s fee for Virtual Group Training on topics that will benefit the work of the sector. CCR Call To Action
Canadian Council for Refugees asks organizations and individuals to contact the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and their local Member of Parliament to urge the government to adopt a broad plan to regularize people without status in Canada, as outlined in the CCR’s submission. The Minister is expected to decide on a plan very soon. Act today!
Canadian Council for Refugees will hold the Summer Working Group meetings on 9 and 10 September 2022 in Montreal, Quebec. The meetings are a forum to exchange information, network and develop policy positions on issues related to refugee protection and resettlement, and the settlement of refugees and immigrants.
Canada’s Parliament has unanimously called for a plan to “allow workers of all skill levels permanent residency”, and the Prime Minister has instructed the Minister of Immigration to regularize status for undocumented workers. This can open the door to citizenship for low wage essential workers and undocumented people. Sign the petition to call for immigration status for all.

Shifting and Sharing Power: Community Engagement for Reducing Health Inequities
The Health Equity Summit is hosted annually by CASSA to address health-related disparities, particularly those that affect South Asian communities and other racialized communities. The event features knowledge exchange between key stakeholders and covers a wide range of topics in health and mental health. The event will be held virtually on July 14, 2022, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Apply for an Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant. The grant is intended to help non-profit organizations address community needs by improving infrastructure – such as purchasing equipment, building a new space, or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs. COVID-19 Mental Health and Wellbeing Grant Program
Canadian Red Cross is accepting applications for the ‘Strengthening Community Capacity to Support Mental Health and Wellbeing Grant Program’. The program is funded by Public Health Agency of Canada. It is meant to assist frontline community organizations to support those whose mental health and wellbeing have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Deadline - July 29, 2022.
Wage disparity between community care jobs in nonprofits and those in the public and private sectors is driving the HR crisis and hurting communities. Workers doing the same job funded by the same government program are not being paid equally. Nonprofit wages are the lowest. Ontario NonProfit Network’s new paper proposes how nonprofits and government can work to achieve parity.
The Impact of COVID-19 on Youth Experiencing Homelessness
A study on youth homelessness by Covenant House Toronto, University of Toronto and MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions suggests youth should be supported to stay in their homes or with other family members when possible and safe to do so, and supports provided to keep young people engaged in school.
Canada's Immigration Advantage: A survey of major employers
This report sheds light on immigration’s importance to employers and the overall economy. It is based on a survey of 80 member companies of the Business Council of Canada in the first quarter of 2022. Collectively, these 80 companies employ nearly 1,650,000 Canadians in more than 20 industries, generating revenues of approximately $1.2 trillion in 2020.
