Dear friends,
April 4 is Refugee Rights Day. We use this day as a chance to urge the Government of Canada to respect the rights of refugees.
We will be holding a virtual event on April 4 from 1 PM to 2 PM Eastern Time. As part of the event, we will be featuring the stories of people who have come to Canada as refugees.
Want to get involved? Here’s how:
Send us a picture or video of yourself holding up a sign with a slogan related to refugee rights. If you can, try to include a Toronto landmark behind you -- the CN tower, High Park, Pearson Airport, etc. You’re welcome to use a virtual background.
If you’re doing a video, you can say the slogan out loud instead.
Examples of slogans could be:
- “Refugee rights are human rights”
- “Canada: stop turning people back at the border”
- “The right to safe refuge is a human right that we cannot ignore”
- “Stand up for refugees”
- “I stand with refugees”
Please submit your picture and/or video to rrd@ocasi.org by March 28, 2022.
Please join us on April 4 at 1pm virtually via zoom for the Toronto Refugee Rights Month Celebration!
American Sign Language interpretation will be provided.
Please register for the event
