The Ontario government is pushing Bill 18, Stronger Workplaces for a Stronger Economy Act, 2014 through the legislature to have it passed as soon as possible. The Bill amends various employment-related statutes, with many of the proposed changes impacting temporary help workers.
Bill 18 (formerly Bill 146 – the Stronger Workplaces for a Stronger Economy Act, 2013) was re-introduced by the government on July 16, 2014. The Bill passed Second Reading on October 29, 2014 and was referred the Standing Committee on General Government, and to clause by clause consideration on November 3. The Bill is expected to pass third reading by November 6.
