OCASI Comments on Federal Budget 2015

Federal Budget 2015 tabled on April 21 in the House of Commons contains two measures targeted specifically to immigrants – Foreign Credential Recognition Loan project changes and Access to remittance services. Many of the new investments contained in the budget are delayed for implementation in 2017-18 and later.

OCASI Comments on Federal Budget 2014

The federal budget tabled in the House of Commons on Tuesday February 11, 2014 cuts transfer payments to Ontario. The decrease (projected at $641m) will potentially negatively impact on Ontario’s ability to maintain commitments to social programs and services that benefit vulnerable and marginalized populations.

Federal Budget 2011 May Have Future Cuts To Immigrant Settlement

 

The federal budget tabled in Parliament on Monday June 6, 2011 by Finance Minister Jim Flaherty includes $4 billion in cuts intended to aid deficit reduction. This was the biggest change from the last budget tabled on March 22, 2011 (see OCASI comments on the previous budget).
