Job Summary:
In 2012, OCASI released the Making Ontario Home (MOH) report. Based on a survey of over 2,500 newcomers to Ontario, it is the first province-wide study in Ontario focused on immigrant and refugee use of settlement and integration services. For more information, please see: www.ocasi.org/moh.
The core role of the employee will be to conduct further statistical analysis of the MOH data.
Responsibilities:
- With direction from the Policy and Research Coordinator, develop research questions to inform further statistical analysis of MOH data;
- Statistical analysis of MOH data using R;
- Interpretation and reporting of data analysis results;
- Assisting with the development of short research reports based on the data results, and the possibility of contributing to policy analysis if interested.
Education & Qualifications:
- Master's degree with demonstrated experience in advanced statistical analysis;
- Strong knowledge of R and past experience using it;
- Demonstrated capacity with statistics/quantitative research methods;
- Knowledge of statistical theory and modeling methodologies for the extraction, collection, compilation and analysis, and reporting of data;
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Sound judgment and an understanding of equity and anti-oppression.
Note: Candidates must be returning to school in the fall.
This position is scheduled to work up to a maximum of 198 hours or 5.6 weeks from start date until August 31, 2013, based on a schedule determined by the Policy & Research Coordinator and the employee.
Hourly rate: $20
